Some members of my eighth grade class and I are in a group called Global Explorers. In the spring, we are going to Costa Rica for eight days. While we are there, we will work on science lessons and service projects. We get to learn about their culture and environment. For example, on Day 2, we will spend the day with the Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation participating in service projects and playing games with the local children. On Day 4, we visit a pineapple plantation and learn about fair-trade and organic farming. After that, we go to an educational farm to learn about composting and to harvest items for meals. On Day 5, we get to shop at a local market and purchase items to donate to a local orphanage. On the last couple of days, we get to have some zip lining fun through the forest.
This is a life changing event for me and the people I get to help. I'm looking forward to experiencing the things that we learn about in science and helping a global community.
I appreciate any donation you could provide. I will be sure to email about the trip and share some pictures.
