Free Books for Foster Kids
Organized by: Meaghan Conly

EVENT DATE Mar 24, 2016
Inspired by a colleague, I have decided that during this season of Lent, we should do our best to help spread joy to those who oftentimes need it the most - the hundreds of children currently living in foster care throughout Franklin County.
These children have at times felt unwanted, unlovable, and lonely - feelings no child should have to experience. Thankfully there are many ways in which each of us can help change this - volunteer; open your home as a safe place to land - whether it be for a day, a week, or a year; or even adopt a child in need. Of course there are plenty of other ways to help support these children and, as a consultant with Usborne Books & More, I'm hoping to do just that!
With your help, we will be able to donate brand new, award-winning books to the foster children right here in our community. Do you remember having a childhood favorite? A book you loved to get lost in, that helped you forget about your problems and travel to places you couldn’t physically go? How about connecting so deeply with a character that they felt like your best friend? I know I did - and I would love to give that gift to every foster child in our county!
Usborne Books & More will match our gifts at 50%, making our money stretch even further! For a mere $10, you can put a quality book into the hands of a child. So what do you say? Will you consider passing up that latte and sandwich tomorrow to bestow a gift on a child in need?
Thank you for considering to donate to this worthy cause!
