A review of our last day Ride of 115 miles.
January 15, 2017
In January I will set off on my bicycle for the Hope Ride for Freedom. As we ride from St. Augustine to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida to raise awareness and financial resources for the innocent victims of human trafficking in Florida. Human Trafficking: Human Trafficking, under both federal and Florida law, it is defined as the transporting, soliciting, recruiting, harboring, providing, or obtaining of another person for transport; for the purposes of forced labor, domestic servitude or sexual exploitation using force, fraud and/or coercion. This is a multi-day cycling event to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking and raise funding for Hope House Florida, the only Safe House on the East Coast of Florida, caring for girls rescued out of human trafficking. Here's the Reality of Modern Day Slavery... - 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally. - 68% of them are trapped in forced labor. - 26% of them are children. - 55% are women and girls. - $150 billion industry worldwide. • The average age of girls enslaved is 12-14. • 99% of the victims are not rescued. • Florida is 3rd in the nation for reported cases of human trafficking. Please join me in this inaugural ride to provide support to these young ladies rescued from Human Trafficking.
