Ainsley's Angels of America is super excited to be spreading awareness through activism and education!
Arianna Manning was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome 10 years ago. Doctors told her parents she would never talk, walk, and that she would be intellectually disabled for life. She would have seizures, a sleep disorder, and global developmental delay. Arianna has never allowed this diagnosis to hold her back and her parents have followed her lead. She fought to take her first steps at age two. She is fighting every day to learn, communicate and take an active part in her community. She is a girl scout, a volunteer, a swimmer, a thespian, and now she can say a marathoner.
Five years ago Arianna's mom began running for Angelman Awareness. She ran her first marathon and Arianna was at the end cheering her on. Since then Arianna has wanted to be a part of every running event she comes by. She even makes her mom stop to cheer on runners when they are driving past an event. Arianna volunteered for several years at water stations for local marathon and half marathons. Three years ago Arianna's mom introduced her to tandem running. Immediately Arianna's reaction was pure joy and excitement. Together they completed many 5k and 10k races and just last year she did her first half marathon. Last weekend she was fortunate enough to complete the Wineglass Marathon with her I run 4 runner, Jackie (who also ran with her in the 1/2 marathon).
Arianna has grown quite a bit since her first race and her current chair is no longer appropriate for her size. Similar to running in the wrong sneakers, running in the wrong chair can be difficult. So we are setting out on a new adventure to help her get a new running chair that will make her fly faster and stronger for her next race season!
