Since 2007, the Freedom Writers Foundation has provided educational scholarships to 68 students. Every year our dedicated Educational Advisory Board carefully selects graduating seniors from the Freedom Writers’ alma mater, Woodrow Wilson High School.
The Scholarship is geared toward students who deal with obstacles such as homelessness, drugs, abuse and poverty. Many are first-generation Americans and the first in their families to graduate from high school and pursue college.
In addition to the monetary aspect of the scholarship the recipients also receive support from the Foundation staff and Erin Gruwell to help them get the most rewarding college experience possible.
