I am trying to create a legal defense fund for my father, Richard DeLisi from dying in prison for a non-violent crime, which was orchestrated by the State of Florida back in 1988 that resulted in a 90, yes that's NINETY year sentence. The charges which he was convicted of were trafficking in cannabis, conspiracy to traffic in cannabis, and R.I.C.O.In as few words as possible,he was duped into a pot smuggling operation by an old friend of his who happened to be working as a confidential informant, this old"friend", also conveniently owed Richard a large sum of money. To kill two birds with one stone he offered to repay his debt by flying in a plane with 1500 Lbs. of pot, this would get rid of a debt as well as gain favor with his handlers at the Florida Dept.Of Law Enforcement. I am not condoning illegal activity nor am i saying that Richard is innocent. What I am saying is that the sentence does not match,by the way, the State of Florida had a pre-trial sentencing recommendation of 12-17 years. The trial judge senteced him to 90 years, which is a life sentece. This is a travesty of justice that needs to be rectified before it's too late!
