EVENT DATE: Dec 15, 2013
It’s hard to believe that it was twenty years ago this year that Free Willy splashed on the big scene. The movie about a troubled boy who finds a friend in Willy, an orca being held in captivity at a Northwest amusement park was the first movie to highlight the issue of whale captivity in North America. As whale captivity continues to be a problem–as demonstrated in this year’s acclaimed documentary Blackfish–Videology invites you to an anniversary screening of Free Willy, so you can remember why whale captivity needs to end (and how awesome Free Willy is). This screening will benefit Oceana, an organization dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans and marine life.
If you can't make it to the screening, consider a.) watching Free Willy on your own, and b.) making a donation to support whales (like Willy!) through Oceana!
