Returning from Ghana
August 19, 2017
Willow Bennison and myself, members of the New York Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, will be traveling in minstry with the Fellowship of Friends of African Descent to Accra Ghana.
The Fellowship of Friends of African Descent (FOFOAD) representing Quaker Meetings from across the United States is sending a delegation of Friends of African Descent to Ghana to worship and fellowship with the Hill House Meeting. This delegation affirms FOFOAD’s commitment to the uplifting of Quakers of African Descent around the world.
We acknowledge that Friends of the African Diaspora experience a stress that other Quakers may not have experienced therefore the primary purpose of our traveling in ministry is to raise up, in shared fellowship and worship, the Spirit (of God) that loves and includes us all with Friends of African Descent.
We believe that, “In the 21st century, the traveling ministry is an important way to realize our vision of a thriving and integrated network of Friends woven together in transformative faith.” (Friends World Committee 2017)
