THE STORY:

FRIENDS OF THAI DAUGHTERS INC wrote -

The problems of the world can be overwhelming. We know!

But what if you couldn't change the world BUT you could change a life?

That's what our founders realized when they were traveling through Northern Thailand  in 2002.

And changed lives we have. The lives of over 70 girls and young women have been changed forever through our program. They WERE orphaned, neglected, abused, migrant and undocumented. They WERE at high risk of becoming someone's property - a sex slave. Now, our older "Daughters" ARE leaders, mentors and role models in Northern Thailand. They are nurses, entrepreneurs, artists and teachers.

Help us grow and open a third Sunflower House so we can reach up to 75 Daughters each and every year.

Our family-scale program works. Friends of Thai Daughters is not an institution - we are a family. At our Sunflower Houses in Chiang Rai and Chiang Khong, our Daughters are studying hard, playing and laughing. They are growing up in a loving and safe home under the guidance of one of our housemothers and their older FTD sisters. They are attending local schools, learning about their beautiful country through educational tours, healing and building their confidence through our comprehensive program. They are from ethnic hill tribes including the Karen, Shan, Lisu, Lahu, Hmong and Akha.

Our impact is exponential and far greater than completely changing the life trajectory of our Daughters. Our ethic of giving back or "paying it forward" means our Daughters share their kindness, love, advice, networks, ideas and encouragement with their hometown communities and throughout the region, creating opportunities and hope where there was none.

Human trafficking is modern day slavery. It is a $150 BILLION industry enslaving over 45 million people including over 30 million in Southeast Asia and over 425,000 in Thailand. It can be overwhelming.

Don't give up! Join us and change lives, one at a time.
