On October 22nd this year my friends and I are running in the Marine Corp Marathon. We affectionately refer to ourselves as the BRC (Best Running Club). My fellow members of this elite club are Mary Roosa, Jen Braun and Colleen Kortright (honorary members Anna Jackson and Kathleen Laux).
The BRC believes in lifting each other up so it only seems appropriate that we run for Michael and Friends for Michael. We have been moved learning about Michael’s spirit, bravery, and kindness in his battle with his brain tumor. His ability to see beyond himself and to the community is amazing for anyone-- especially for such a young person.
His compassion for others fighting tumors remind me of my sister Marybeth who died of Leukemia in 1987. She was given little hope of survival. She wanted to experiment with various protocols not only to help herself, but to help future patients and families.
The BRC is running for community, hope, and the future--for Michael and for Marybeth. Happy running, Cyndy
