She's been called the Muslim Mother Teresa.
She is charismatic and compassionate, driven, and full of grace and beauty.
And she has literally committed everything she has to achieve one purpose:
Decreasing the newborn and maternal mortality rate in Somaliland and the Horn of Africa.
The Edna Adan University Hospital was built by Edna Adan Ismail in order to address the grave health problems that endanger the lives of women and children of Somaliland.
Your donation can help this extraordinary hospital:
- A normal delivery costs around $30 (They've delivered over 12,000 babies since 2002!)
- Training a community midwife costs $200/month (24 midwives, 30 nurses, and 14 lab technicians have been trained by her hospital.)
- A fistula surgery costs about $550 (Over 300 women have had fistulas repaired thanks to Edna's hospital and its partners.)
Friends of Edna’s Maternity Hospital is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds for the Edna Adan University Hospital. Founded in 2000 by a group of Americans and Somalilanders living in the U.S., Friends of Edna makes annual grants to the hospital based on its need and maintains an endowment to ensure that the hospital will continue to fulfill its mission for generations to come.
