We see them on the evening news fighting fires and responding to our emergencies. What we don’t see is the difficulties they experience when they are not working, due to the stress of being a New York City firefighter. The tragedies they experience often contribute to depression, Post-Traumatic Stress, anxiety, marital difficulties and a myriad of problems that make it difficult to fully engage in every day events.
Friends of Firefighters was established 16 years ago after 9-11 by firefighters and civilians who recognized the need for counseling outside of ‘the job’, where FF’s can go to process and gain the tools necessary to function as a whole person again. Friends of Firefighters is at risk for not being able to serve those who depend on us most- our Bravest.
We are experiencing a financial gap this year because of cuts in federal grants. If you have ever needed a firefighter or know one personally, you know the sacrifices they make by putting their lives on the line.
Your contribution will go directly to services that benefit the firefighters and their families and is 100% tax-deductible. Please give what you can today.
