Friends of Indreni is a U.S.-based for-purpose organization dedicated to supporting neglected and impoverished children in the areas of education, health care and housing. Our primary focus is in Nepal, with expanding interest in several other under-developed countries. In Nepali, “Indreni” means “rainbow”, a perfect metaphor for these children: after the storms of adversity, very often a rainbow will appear, filled with opportunities for a hopeful future.
Our main undertaking is the Indreni Home for Children in Nepal, established originally by Indreni Ltd-Ireland. We currently support one home housing 30 children. The home provides secure shelter, nourishment, and a loving atmosphere for the children, along with education at a local private school. In addition to our primary commitment in Nepal, our vision includes a goal to help other like-minded charities improve the lives of disadvantaged children around the world. Currently, we are supporting projects with the Incan Q'eros community in Peru, and at a women's center in Costa Rica.
