BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF THE HIGH LINE INC
I joined their Board early on and FHL has worked for the last 10 years to not only preserve this irreplaceable structure but turn it into a magical, one-of-a-kind park. The first section opened last spring and has already had over 2 million visitors.
We're still working to raise money for the renovation and landscaping of the 2nd half.
When all sections are complete, the High Line will be a mile-and-a-half-long, running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. It's truly one of the best examples of urban reclamation and redevelopment I've ever seen in a major city. It's beautiful and it was pulled off by regular people who got together behind a good idea.
Come visit it and if you like it, kick in a little something so that FHL can complete it and manage it for years to come.
