BENEFITING: BREAST CANCER COALITION OF ROCHESTER INC
Frisbees fighters are walking in memory of my late husband Dennis. He fought valiantly for two and a half years against breast cancer. Unfortunately... In this case... The cancer won. It does not have to be this way! One of my sweetest friends was diagnosed with invasive ductile carcinoma insitu this week....we are walking to support her current fight, with strength, love and positivity!! We need to find a way to prevent breast cancer as well as fight it when it rears it's ugly head. Women's breast health has made great strides. Unfortunately, men's breast health isn't following quite so quickly. Their mortality rate is higher than women's because they still haven't fully associated it with a male disease. MEN HAVE BREASTS!! Yup... I said it! Doctors are still not doing a breast exam as part of a routine physical in men... Shame on them. Every man who knows me.. Who loves me... And who is important to me has heard me say this. Demand a breast exam... Get over being squeamish about mentioning breasts in the same sentence with men. Save your family even the possibility that they could lose you to something completely preventable if found early enough! OK... I'll get off my soapbox now
