BENEFITING: FUTURE TRADITIONS FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jun 15, 2011
HOURS PLEDGED: 1,000
SonneBlauma Danscz Theatre is passing the hat just a wee bit early in interest of supporting the artists coming to the SB-ADaPT Festival.
The Festival is structured like all those of this nature in the U.S. The host company puts in the HUGE amount of work (in our case 100% volunteer efforts logging in close to 1,000 collective hours) to make the event happen and covers the costs associated with production and promotion; the artists collaborate by sending in an application, making the art, and covering the costs of travel and lodging. It works out great because it saves the artists the cost/trouble of booking a theater and promoting the event, and the process guarantees that there will be an audience.
We want to build on this fabulous model and go the extra mile. We are fundraising to help our artists cover the cost of their flights, car rentals, gas, scooters, skateboards, bicycles, shoe leather – whatever it takes to get here! We are putting it out there into the world & we ask with big grins on our faces and love in our hearts - would you be willing to consider DOUGHNATING now (giggle, giggle) & we’ll equitably pass it on to our travellers to help cover their flights, car rentals, and gas!
We're also putting it out there to our community to join in on the volunteer fun by helping out with one of the foodie events picking up food and setting up, providing technical support, helping with artists transportation - LOADS of fun opportunities.
How it works. When you donate Crowdrise takes a cut (8%) and then passes what is left on to our 501 (c) 3, The Future Traditions Foundation (www.futuretraditionsfoundation.org). 100% of the funds we receive will be equitably passed on to artists incurring travel costs to get here. You can also go to the www.sbadaptfest.com website and use the donate now button to donate directly (paypal takes much less.)
