BENEFITING: GAME THEORY ACADEMY
EVENT DATE: Dec 01, 2015
The Game Theory Academy team has guided 360 youth through our programs this year: Make Your Decisions Count, our signature strategy-thinking, personal finance curriculum; WOW Farm, our urban farm entrepreneurship program; and a volunteer-driven job readiness program for student alumni. Working in cities with high childhood poverty rates, we connect with both the young person who is teetering towards crime, and another who is college-bound and hungry for tools to make that dream a reality.
If together we raise $5,000 on #GivingTuesday, how many youth opportunities can that create?
$5,000 funds participation stipends for 30 youth in Make Your Decisions Count, or internship stipends for 5 WOW Farm interns. (Hey...if we exceed our goal and raise $10,000 that would support 30 MYDC youth and 5 WOW Farmers!!)
$2,000 funds bus tickets for 130 youth participants, so they can get to class on time.
$1,500 buys granola bars and fruit for a whole year of GTA program snacks so 300 students stay alert for learning.
$1,000 funds a four-month WOW Farm internship stipend for one teenager that she can deposit into her savings account to save for college.
$300 buys work gloves our 30 WOW Farm interns to protect their hands from cuts and other injuries.
$175 funds a full stipend for one Make Your Decisions Count student with perfect attendance.
$95 services the WOW Farm port-o-potty for a month. Who wants to endow our potty? You!
$75 buys one pair of overalls so a WOW Farm intern can look and feel like bona fide farmer.
$45 covers the cost of printing fancy, official certificates for 150 youth who complete our programs to prove to parents, teachers, and others what they have accomplished.
$15 buys folders for one MYDC class so students can collect their class handouts and notes in one organized place and refer to them in years ahead when they want to remember how to draw an opportunity cost chart.
$10 buys one bed of seeds that we can transform into five cases of produce the WOW youth interns can grow and sell for $120.
