A Mission With A Purpose
Organized by: Katina Lee
EVENT DATE Mar 15, 2015
After years of working to help mostly young women in Pittsburgh who are often living in a cycle of overwhelming stress and trauma, we have joined forces to create a counseling service called Taylor Lee Health and Wellness. The office is housed within The Pittsburgh Project a non-profit organization designed to make neighborhoods stronger, safer and more peaceful.
Sara Taylor is a licensed professional counselor and has 20 years of experience working with at risk youth and families in her community. She has expertise in the areas of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. She is passionate about helping clients on their journey of healing and recovery specializing in trauma, sexual abuse and women's issues.
Katina Lee is an active member of the Pittsburgh Community having served in the Public and Private sectors for the over 25 years in the fields of finance, administration and social services. She is a trained human services professional focused on advocacy, strength based counseling, and intensive group therapy.
A large percentage of our services are offered pro bono or through a sliding scale. Seventy percent of the clients served are single females who have been sexually exploited and physically victimized. Many of whom have limited resources and education. One in four of our clients live in fear of his/her life due to past or present volatile home situations.
At this time we are asking for your financial help in order to enable us to receive advanced training at The Seattle School of Psychology and Theology. The cost of attending the program is significant and we are hoping to raise $10,000. The Allender Center at The Seattle School is committed to boldly engaging the impact of trauma and abuse, fostering redemption and healing for clients and communities; and training professionals to oversee the process of restoration. We have experienced firsthand The Seattle School’s intention to “prepare therapists to become attuned to the beauty and brokenness of their own stories in order to better meet the stories of others with compassion hope and awe!”
We are humbled to do this work and would value your partnership with us in this effort.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sara Taylor and Katina Lee
