Startup Needs:
Charter Development: We are partnering with two experienced curriculum developers to write the charter for The Homer A. Plessy School. Cost: $9,000
Communication and Outreach: In addition to our grassroots outreach work, we are organizing a series of community events, fundraisers as well as a marketing campaign to better educate families about our work. Cost: $5,000
School Leader: The essential component for any school’s success. Cost for incubation period prior to school opening: $60,000

The Homer A. Plessy Community School boasts support from neighborhood associations, elected officials, and local non-profit organizations. This list includes The Plessy & Ferguson Foundation, St.Roch Improvement Association, Bywater Community Development Corporation, Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association, St. Roch Community Development Corporation, and the St. Claude Avenue Main street Program. Elected officials include: Council members Kristin Gisleson Palmer, Jon Johnson, Cynthia Hedge-Morrell, Susan Guidry, and Council President Jackie Clarkson, as well as legislators Senator J.P. Morrell, Senator Karen Carter-Peterson, House Speaker Jim Tucker, Representative Jared Brossett, and Representative Helena Moreno.
