Building a school - The Blessed Hope Project
Organized by: Banks Brandon
Thank you for taking the time to check out our fundraising project for Blessed Hope Primary School! My name is Banks, and I am facilitating the US based fundraising efforts for my good friends, Kenny Vaccaro and Michael Hobbs. I hope the following information inspires you to support our cause...
Blessed Hope opened in 2012 with its first student, and the school roll has grown to 185 students today. The students are currently aged 2-10 years old and divided into the following six class groups: 'Babies', 'Nursery', 'Pre-unit', and 'Class 1-4'. The children often do not have the basic necessities for class, and the current classroom facilities are not fit for young children. In spite of this, the children are unbelievably positive, eager to learn, and rarely without a smile on their faces. In the 12 months that we have been involved with Blessed Hope, we can honestly say that they have changed our perspective on life.
The school is currently operating out of a leased Church hall in the Kibera slum, and that hall is now at capacity. We are facing the very real prospect of having to release some children at the end of this year if we cannot find Blessed Hope a new home.
We have already raised $30,000 and in March 2017, we purchased a plot of land to build Blessed Hope a school that they can call their own. We need your help to get the rest of the way. If we can raise another $50,000 we can construct a full service primary school able to cater to over 300 children!
No donation amount is too small.
