BENEFITING: BORGEN PROJECT
Every year, three million people die from preventable diseases. Half of those deaths are young children. The number of people suffering from hunger around the world is greater than the population of the U.S., Canada and the EU combined. These are preventable problems. It would take a small fraction of the U.S. budget — about $30 billion a year — to end world hunger. Compare that to the $530 billion a year America allocates to military spending, and you can begin to see that we have our priorities backward. The Borgen Project is a non-profit organization aiming to end global poverty through advocacy. By working with Congressional leaders, The Borgen Project is working to make global poverty a political priority for the U.S. A small amount of money can go a long way to helping achieve that end. Supporting The Borgen Project and non-profits like it represents the most efficient and effective way to fight global poverty.
