Charity Wedding Registry IdeasA charity wedding registry is just like a regular wedding registry, but instead of asking for traditional gifts, the couple getting married asks their loved ones to give to a charity or cause instead. It’s becoming more of a trend every day - and we see amazing examples of people using CrowdRise for their charity wedding registry all the time. Like Mike and Michael, who used a charity wedding registry to raise money for Alzheimers research. And Eric and India, who used their wedding to fund travel and lifesaving surgery for a toddler in Honduras. Check out more of the cool and inspiring charity wedding registries below and start building this into your dream wedding.
What makes a great Charity Wedding Registry?
Charity wedding registries are great because not only can a couple use their special day to support a cause (or causes) that they care deeply about, but guests often find it way more rewarding than giving a normal wedding gift. We all have plenty of crystal swans. So, want to make your wedding charitable? All you need to do is 1) select your cause(s), 2) use CrowdRise to explain why it matters so much to you, 3) share your registry with guests, and 4) watch the donations roll in. Oh, and then 5) get married.

THE STORY: We feel that we've been blessed beyond measure throughout our lives and want to make a difference in the life of a less-fortunate child. In lieu of a wedding gift, we encourage you to help us make this "wish" become a reality for this child. Here's Kaitlyn's Story... Kaitlyn was born with a hypoplastic left heart and has had three surgeries before the age of 14, the last being a heart transplant. We are happy to report that she is doing very well and is looking forward to her wish, which is a trip to visit the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida. Kaitlyn is your typical teenager. She likes pop music and her favorite musician is Joe Jonas. She loves to dance (lyrical and jazz) and not surprisingly, her favorite movie is High School Musical, and Zach Efron is her favorite actor. Her favorite color is pink, her favorite food is pasta, and she loves to watch movies. She shares her home with her parents, two sisters, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. Kaitlyn’s favorite Disney princess is Jasmine and she is very...$5,000Goal$7,205Raised

Welcome to our wedding registry! In lieu of registering for gifts, we decided that the gifts we would appreciate most are those that benefit others. None would make us happier than for you to learn about a wonderful organization whose cause means so much to us.It was grief over loss that brought us together over ten years ago. As our friendship grew to love in the early years, The Children’s Room was a constant, comforting support in our lives and the lives of our children. We have both continued to enjoy a close involvement with them. In gratitude for the kindness and comfort they have offered us and countless other families, we would like to pay it forward by creating this donation page. We hope you can help us celebrate our marriage with a gift to them and to the lives they help rebuild. With love and gratitude,Teresa and Simon Learn more about The Children's Room and their inspirational work by visiting their website: childrensroom.org$5,000Goal$5,640Raised

"WE MAKE A LIVING BY WHAT WE GET, BUT WE MAKE A LIFE BY WHAT WE GIVE" - WINSTON CHURCHILL Joe and I are choosing to forego a traditional wedding registry. We have selected four charities that are important to us for those who wish to give us something. Additionally, any gifts we do receive, we will be offsetting by donating the value to charity. Team in Training: 3 years ago, I (Kathy) ran my first marathon in San Diego. It was one of the best experiences of my life for a few reasons: 1) finishing an actual marathon was a huge goal of mine and 2) it was my introduction to Team in Training (TNT). The Rock and Roll marathon in San Diego is the largest TNT event, and throughout my race I was constantly being cheered and supported by TNT coaches and team members. The last miles were especially rough on me, around mile 22, Blane and I started running with a TNT group from Kansas City. Their coach gave us advice, they gave us some music to listen to and really helped us finish the race. I was so inspired by the...11Donors$1,075Raised

These organizations are near and dear to our hearts, and it would mean the world to us if our wedding helped these charities thrive. Below is a brief summary of each organization: Northern California Innocence Project: The mission of the Northern California Innocence Project (NCIP) is to promote a fair, effective and compassionate criminal justice system and protect the rights of the innocent. NCIP challenges wrongful convictions by exonerating the innocent, educating future attorneys, and reforming criminal justice policy. Eighty-seven wrongfully convicted men and women were exonerated in 2013 in the United States. Since its founding in 2001, NCIP has attained justice for 17 innocent people – including 3 in 2013 alone – who had collectively served over 215 years in prison. (Please note this is funded through President - Board of Trustees of Santa Clara's Tax ID -- but earmarked for NCIP only.) International Justice Mission: A global team...$5,000Goal$7,225Raised

Allie's dad, Tom, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August. His diagnosis came just six years after Allie's grandmother (Tom's stepmother), Peggy, passed away from pancreatic cancer. Tom has been incredibly strong these past few months, traveling back and forth from Miami to Houston for treatment at MD Anderson. He's undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, six weeks of daily radiation, and a surgery. For those of you not familiar with the disease, pancreatic cancer is a tough cancer to fight. Its incredibly aggressive, symptoms often don't present until the disease has already spread, and surgery is the only potential curative treatment. As a result, survival rates have remained in the single digits for the past 40 years. As our family remains focused on Tom's fight with pancreatic cancer, we are also committed to raising awareness and funds to find a cure for pancreatic cancer. To support our efforts, please consider making...45Donors$5,926Raised

HRC's Wedding Registry offers a unique opportunity for couples to encourage loved ones to make a donation in honor of their wedding or commitment ceremony. This is a great way to celebrate their special day, while ensuring that HRC’s work to achieve full equality for LGBT Americans can continue. The registry allows couples to create their own personal page on the HRC website where they can share their story and pictures and encourage their guests to donate. We guide them through the process of setting up this page and provide them with the tools they need to update as they see fit. Couples can track the amount they have raised via their personal page and will receive an email every time a donation is made to their site.118Donors$11,103Raised

The 5K Wedding Run is an event that provides an opportunity for couples to walk or run 5K, in order to raise $5K for their wedding! This event serves as the modern day wedding gift registry- convenient for both couples and their guests. Family and friends can give the gift of a fun and stress-free experience versus something that may get stored away or duplicated. Not to mention, they have a simple registry option for when "the good stuff" is all taken from the couple's traditional registry. The bride and groom can relax and enjoy their wedding, knowing that they don't have to go broke to have a wedding they'll love. This race is making a movement (literally) and providing the greatest gift- the ability to spend more time enjoying the engagement vs. focusing on the cost. Not to mention, the chance to win wedding prizes and browse the bridal expo at the finish of the race!9Donors$330Raised

In lieu of gifts please donate to our favorite charities :) --------------------------------------- The secret is out!! Jeff and Jessica are eloping January 1, 2015 in Honnolulu, Hawaii. Jeff and Jessica realize how blessed they are to have such loving and supportive family and friends and feel they already have everything they want and need. Instead of asking for personal wedding gifts, Jeff and Jessica would love to make a difference in the lives of others by asking their friends and family to donate to their favorite charities. Why these charities? 1. Hydrocephalus Association: Jeff has hydrocephalus. Although he lives a relatively normal life, he has a shunt in order to empty his brain of excess cerebral spinal fluid and if and when the shunt stops working, brain surgery is the only way to repair/replace the shunt. Throughout his life time he has had many brain surgeries in order to repair/replace his various shunts, which may cause other complications as well as a long...18Donors$1,731Raised
