What makes a great creative fundraiser?

Creative fundraisers are so great because they really involve thinking outside-the-box and being wildly creative. They often involve scenarios that people have never even thought of (like the group of guys who would go to concerts of bands they hated, sober might I add) but do a tremendous amount of good (they were raising money for MS). So if you want to live in a treehouse for a year to save the whales or make pottery blindfolded to provide music classes for the underprivileged, by all means: do it. Just make sure that whatever you’re doing is responsible, legal and doesn’t hurt anyone. But beyond that, it’s all fair game. Oh, and if you’re looking for a cause to fundraise for, check out our Explore Causes page to get some good ideas.

We're sure by now you’ve all heard the story of the Elsa Cake. Well, here at Icing Smiles we’d like to use this story to highlight all the bakers in our community. We all have fails in our lives, but we want to give you a chance to highlight your Best Cake Ever and raise much needed funds for Icing Smiles.   Have you ever made a cake that defied all of your expectations? Would you venture to say that it's the Best Cake Ever? Well now is the time to find out. We're proud to launch our Best Cake Ever Contest on CrowdRise and we want you to be a part of it. This is a great opportunity to promote your talent while raising some money for a great cause.   We're looking for bakers to submit a photo of their best cakes ever to help raise money for Icing Smiles. Your entry does not have to be an Icing Smiles cake. Each dollar made to each cakes' fundraising page on CrowdRise will count as one vote for that cake ($20 = 20 votes) with all of the proceeds benefitting Icing Smiles. There is...

Scrabble for Cheaters is a Scrabble tournament with a dishonest twist for an honest cause. Here’s how it works:    30 teams pledge to fundraise on behalf of 826CHI's creative writing programs. Dollars raised will be used to purchase "cheats," which can be used to decimate your opponents.   On Saturday, February 27th, after weeks of peer-to-peer fundraising, teams will go head-to-head in a Scrabble tournament, using their hard-earned arsenal of cheats to win a series of 45-minute games. Champions take home a custom-designed Scrabble board, gloriously gaudy trophy, and critical acclaim for eternity.   This year, we aim to raise $20,000. Every donation helps ensure that each of our 2,000+ students can attend our literary arts programs, free-of-cost.   Can we count on your trickery?

Over $222,000 was raised at the 4th Annual WinterKids Downhill 24 at Sugarloaf presented by Darling's Auto Group – a smashing success! Thank you for all your support!   54 teams and 383 participants came together for a once in a lifetime experience – night skiing at Sugarloaf for the first time in history! Over 2,500 individual donors contributed to our success. Teams of skiers and riders of all ages and abilities clocked laps over a 24 hour period (March 11-12, 9am-9am) while raising funds for WinterKids programs. Entertainment included live bands, mechanical bull rides, fat tire bike demos, beer garden, and so much more including the great company of WinterKids spokesperson (and two-time Gold Medalist) - Seth Wescott!   This extraordinary support will allow WinterKids to help more children develop healthy lifelong habits through education and fun, outdoor winter activity. We reached more than 20,000 children this winter and would not be able to achieve that level of success without the help...
