BENEFITING: Project Kindle
EVENT DATE: Aug 01, 2011
For those of you who don't know, Camp Kindle (part of Project Kindle) is a week-long summer camp for kids impacted by HIV/AIDS. They may have it or someone in their close family might. A lot of these kids have had to grow up too fast and deal with things that children shouldn't have to deal with. Camp Kindle offers kids the chance to have a fun week at a summer camp where no one thinks they're weird or strange. Everyone there knows what they deal with every day. Many say it's the best week of their entire year. Being a counselor at CK has been a life changing experience for me as well, and I am so happy to be going back!
Camp Kindle gives them a chance to just relax and be a "normal" kid for one week out of the year at no cost to them or their families. It takes 1000 dollars to send a child to camp. This money covers travel expenses, meals, lodging and transportation. The following is an example of how the money is allocated:
A Week's Lodging for a Camper - $200.00
One Day at Camp for a Camper - $150.00
Feed an Entire Cabin a Meal - $50.00
A Camper's Welcome Package - $25.00
A Camper's Arts & Craft Supplies - $10.00
Please, if you can give whatever you can, even $10, all of it will help these kids get to Camp Kindle and have a great time! Thank you!!
