BENEFITING: WOOFS AND BOOKS
Tucker was rescued by Woofs and Books in Noblesville, IN on 04/11/2015. He is extremely malnourished and is estimated to be 3-years-old. After being examined by our veterinarian and getting test results, Tucker had no fecal parasites and was heartworm negative. He needs to gain 10-12 pounds and ringworm is suspected on his leg.
After 4 days, Tucker developed a deep, productive cough. After visiting the vet again, taking xrays, and getting test results back, Tucker was diagnosed with pneumonia and thankfully does not have canine influenza. He was given fluids due to being slightly dehydrated which was most likely caused by the diarrhea.
As of 04/17/2015, he is currently on antibiotics for the pneumonia, probiotics, anti-diarrhea medication, and topical solution for his ringworm. He may also have mange (demondex) due to his immune system being suppressed. With a safe place to live and proper care, we hope Tucker will recuperate soon. The weight gain will take 2 months. He will be examined again by the vet around 05/01/2015.
Despite being malnourished with all the other ailments, Tucker is a very sweet boy and likes to cuddle!! He had a human at one point because he likes the couch and is comfortable in cars. However, Tucker knew no commands but now knows sit and come. He hasn't been potty trained either, but we are slowly working on that. The main goal is to get him healthy again.
$500+ dollars have been incurred in veterinary expenses, and more expenses will happen as he will need to be re-examined with xrays, neutered, and have his teeth cleaned. He also needs to be on a high quality special food and will be cared for by Woofs and Books for a minimum of 2-3 months. These future expenses assume Tucker will recuperate with NO issues. Yet, he may have some unknown complications such as not being able to absorb the nutrients from food.
Your donation to help Tucker would be greatly appreciated! If Tucker recuperates with no major complications and all the funds are not used, those funds would be used to rescue additional animals.
Every dollar helps and no donation is too small!! Woofs and Books is federally tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Cash donations and goods/supplies are considered tax deductible.
