Funds Needed for Cornea Transplant
Organized by: Ronald Elm
Hello, My name is Ronald. ! am a 59 year old unemployed Machinst My eyesight has slowly been getting worse in my left eye. I went to a doctor and has been diagnosed with Keratoconus. Keratoconus, often abbreviated to “KC”, is a non-inflammatory eye condition in which the normally round dome-shaped cornea progressively thins causing a cone-like bulge to develop.
Although only 15-20% of those with keratoconus ultimately require corneal transplant surgery, for those who do, it is a crucial and sometimes frightening decision.
In keratoconus, a corneal transplant is warranted when the cornea becomes dangerously thin or when sufficient visual acuity to meet the individual’s needs can no longer be achieved by contact lenses due to steepening of the cornea, scaring or lens intolerance.
This results in significant visual impairment. I am in need of a cornea transplant. Due to my sight problems I am unemployed and in need of this transplant to regain employment and get back on my feet. Any amount, however small, is appreciated. Everything helps! All money raised will go towards the surgery and financial support and medical supplies during recovery. Sincerely, Ronald
