Fund Two Volunteers in Lesbos
Organized by: Tom Bailey
Tarah Heighton and Siobhan McEvoy are two amazing people. At the start of January, Tarah decided to take leave from her job as a social worker in a Canadian homeless shelter so that she could go out to Lesbos for 2 weeks to help refugees. Siobhan, who has just finished her masters in disaster management, flew out to Lesbos from Ireland to volunteer at about the same time. Within days of their arrival, both Tarah and Siobhan were working on the frontline of the refugee crisis as senior coordinators in Moria Camp, the central registration camp on Lesbos. Their help is vital - I worked alongside them both during my time as a volunteer, and I saw how important their roles are. That's why Better Days for Moria have asked them to stay on Lesbos for longer, and that's why I have started this fundraising campaign: to help fund their 2 and a half month stay (until the beginning of April). Their work is so important, so any money donated will make a huge difference - I saw it with my own eyes. Funds will go towards house-rental/hostel, food, car-rental and petrol - only the bare necessities (don't worry, they are being as frugal as possible!) Please donate and help these lovely volunteers put a smile on refugees' faces and make people feel safe and secure.
