The Furkids mission is to rescue homeless animals, provide them with the best medical care and nurturing environment while working to find them a forever home. Furkids heals the whole animal, physically and emotionally, restoring its health and its spirit.
How is Furkids different?
Furkids operates the largest no-kill animal shelter in Georgia. The 10,000 square-foot cat facility features colorful, spacious rooms filled with cat trees, perches and toys. At any given time, the shelter is home to 300 kittens, teenagers, adults and senior cats. Furkids also operates a 5,000 square-foot shelter for dogs and has an extensive foster home network and r 13 PetSmart and Petco adoption locations.
At Furkids everyone is welcome to come and volunteer. Furkids is the only shelter that welcomes children as volunteers. We understand the special connection between kids and animals, and we invite children and groups to volunteer with us. It helps kids learn how to be good stewards of animals and become wonderful pet owners when they grow up.
Furkids is one of the only shelters that accepts FIV-positive cats. Contrary to what many people think, FIV-positive cats aren’t under a death sentence. Read more about FIV-positive cats at www.furkids.org/fiv.
Furkids has an in house surgical suite located in the cat shelter, staffed part-time by a licensed veterinarian and other veterinary staff.
