I've always shared the American dream of being a family man. I've spent everyday looking forward to buying a home and raising children of my own. I was well on my way, working hard at a job I enjoyed and toward a business that I was promised to inherit. I was married this April to the woman I love with dreams of a better tomorrow. We planned to start having children this winter and to begin looking for homes soon after. I was just informed that as of November I would be laid off from my job as the business has collapsed. Neither my wife nor I was born into wealth so we've always lived within our means and did the best we could to get by week to week. We never lived an extravagant lifestyle, nor could we justify it even if given the opportunity. We have always managed our finances well, both working full-time, her as a teacher, me as an attorney's assistant, and are proud to be debt free, but had very little extra for gas, groceries, and monthly bills. Even in the worst of situations, I always attempt to remain calm and find a positive perspective however I wish I could say the same for my wife. She is completely heart-broken and devastated as our plans for the future have gone astray and it kills me inside to see her like that. Prior to this happening she had been trying desperately to find a new job where we could earn extra income and continues to do so. As for myself, I too am heart-broken but wish to use this experience to better myself. I regretfully never completed college not realizing the impact it would have on the ones I love. Therefore, I have decided to use this time and experience wisely to focus on becoming a better person for me and my family. With any monies collected through this fundraiser, I will be returning to school to further my education and to pursue the career path that I choose, not just one that I stumble upon. A career that I can devote myself toward in order to give my family the best possible future that they deserve. All donations will be applied towards tuition for myself, academic accessories, monthly bills, groceries, living necessities, and gas throughout the few years that I will be attending school. Any funds remaining will be used toward a down payment on our home. I am truly not asking to be handed my future, but simply a stepping stone to get there. Any amount donated, small or large, would be more appreciated than I could ever say as it will help me build toward that family and future my loved ones deserve. My wife and I would be forever grateful and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
