THE STORY:
On September 24, 2011, I will be running the Hamptons Half Marathon to benefit the Somaly Mam Foundation. This foundation works with girls who were rescued from sex slavery and helps them to lead better lives. As a person who is deeply involved in community and grassroots affairs, I am deeply devastated to know that this kind of action still continues in the world today in the 21st Century. I first heard about this through my running buddy, Deanna. I thought with my immense running talent that has grown exponentially over the past couple of years, I thought I could use that for a good cause to make the world a better place. So, here I am.
My individual fundraising goal is $2500, and we as a team are trying to raise $50,000.
Any contribution helps toward making the world free from sex slavery.
So, donate whaterver you can so that we can make things better for these victims of this horrifying practice.
