We are 5 volunteers (Jana Chovanova from Slovakia, Martin Zvolensky from Slovakia, Beata Bali from Hungary, Hwui Eun Jung from South Korea, Yi Ping from Taiwan) in Richmond Vale Academy in St Vincent and the Greandines. RVA is accredited Distance Learner School with One World Universtiy, located in St Vincent, the second poorest country in the caribbean. RVA SVG trains international volunteers and activists to development and environment work in Caribbean and Latin America. We, the volunteers work in the areas of education, poverty reduction, health care and environmental programs. Our partner in Belize and Ecuador is The International HUMANA PEOPLE TO PEOPLE Movement.
At the Academy we run a Nature and Hiking center to raise funds for the school programs and we run a community center for youth in the village of Fitz Huges, Chateaubelair and Rose Hall. The community center provide educational activities in art, craft, sports and after school programs.
We also run a farm to create local jobs and production and we are developing sustainable organic farming methods.
Our program "Fighting Shoulder to Shoulder with the Poor" is 18 months long, in 1st of April we started our first 6 months period in St Vincent where we prepare ourselves for the 6 months action period in Latin America from 2013 September to help in poor communities how can they live better from that small money what they have. Teaching children and women in the communities, child aid... ect...
Our team has to get USD 5000 together to get into the project and start it.
To earn this money we are working hard on the farm, but St Vincent is a very poor country we can get the money only with work, we need donations as well. So if you can help us to help to end the poverty please do. It is for a good cause! Thank you!
