MYTEAM TRIUMPH's Fundraiser:

CAPTAIN GABBY and ANGEL HEATH's JOURNEY TO THE MARINE CORPS MARATHON '13

MYTEAM TRIUMPH's Photo

THE STORY:

Welcome to Team Gabby’s Fundraising page in support of AINSLEY’S ANGELS of AMERICA!

YES, Gabby is going to join Ainsley and 29 other athlete riders to complete the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon!

YES, Gabby will earn the title “MARATHONER” owned by less than 1% of the world!

YES, you can support our efforts with a donation, book donation, and/or support on social media (details below).

Some of you might have seen Jane Lynch, the Emmy Award-winning actress from the hit TV show "Glee," tell Gabby’s story on E:60.  For those that have not, you must meet this former high school cheerleader unlike any other in the country.

Some of you might have also seen Tom Rinaldi’s E:60 story of how Heath White chased perfection, but that is was the birth of a girl with Down Syndrome that led to the re-birth of a man who thought he had everything, until he discovered the joy of pushing Paisley.

From Team Captain Gabby

A while back, my mom and I were having one of our heart-to-heart conversations and I asked her if there was anything she could change about me, what would it be. She said, "Well, of course I would want you to not be handicapped and be able to walk."  I told her that I wouldn't want to change that about myself because then I would not have been able to help all the people I've helped like the kids at my camp. That is truly what I want to do in life.....help & inspire others. I want people to see everything I do in life and know that they too can overcome any challenges they may have in their lives as well. It is such an honor to be chosen by Heath to run in the Marine Corps Marathon with him. He is helping me reach more people in a way that I've never considered before.

-Gabby

From Angel Heath

I wish I could say I wanted to run with Gabby for some altruistic and noble reason,  but the truth is I need Gabby way more than she needs me.  Upon seeing her story on ESPN I quickly realized Gabby has a fire in her that I wish I had.  As a former bomber pilot and now law enforcement officer, I've always gravitated towards danger and risk, but at only 20 years old, Gabby has already displayed more courage than I ever have.  Through her self-advocacy Gaby has given a burnout, 39 year old, middle of the pack runner a reason to get out of bed and run every morning, so I know her ability to inspire great things.  Gabby has the potential to change how thousands of people view those who are "differently-abled".  By running with her in the Marine Corps Marathon I only hope to be a small part of all that Gabby is going to accomplish in her life.

-Heath

So, who is Ainsley?

Well, she does not talk or walk; she does not play for fun; but she smiles, while out for a run. An inspiration to thousands, she is an amazing little girl with a smile that will light up any room. Shortly after being diagnosed with an extremely rare (only 9 in the Nation) progressive genetic nerve disorder called Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD), Ainsley completed the Surfer's Healing Virginia Beach 5K road race. Her first of many running-aided, wind-induced smiles took her family's collective breath away, as she received her finisher's medal and became an official Team Hoyt Virginia Beach (THVB) ATHLETE! Inspired by Dick and Rick Hoyt, and the only running team authorized by the Hoyt's to use their name, THVB provided Ainsley's family with a therapeutic means to fight the devastation associated with learning and trying to live with the fact she has a terminal illness. The positive energy surrounding the start line, the children smiling from ear to ear, the togetherness of every member preparing to "roll with the wind", the fearlessness of the athletes, the normalcy of the family, and the love everyone shares is a therapy like no other. In an effort to spread this amazing experience to as many people as possible, Ainsley inspired the creation of seven 501c3 public charities (TX, NC, LA, CA, VA, MD), the Ainsley's Angels of America Foundation, and a children’s book by Ainsley’s 11 year old sister, Briley.  Aiming to see other families experience what the Hoyt's have experienced nearly 1100 times and what the Rossiter’s have experienced over 40 times (so far), they established these organizations to ensure others can "roll with the wind" and live up to the philosophy of, "Yes You Can."

All funds raised will cover Gabby’s travel expenses, hotel room, race entry for Heath, and a 250.00 grant to cover any additional expenses she might have.  Additional funds will help Ainsley's Angels to continue its mission: "In addition to ensuring everyone can experience endurance events, Ainsley's Angels of America aims to build awareness about America's special needs community through inclusion in all aspects of life, by promoting awareness, providing education, and participating as active members in local communities."

Another way to help, is to spread the word of Ainsley's Angels' efforts.
