As a young child I grew up with my father, mother and two older sisters. Everyday life in the Jasso home was structured and organized consisting of after school sports and eating dinner together as a family. It was early in my life that my father Peter Jasso began to teach me how to be a confident leader at home, school, and in Boy Scouts. Sadly at the age of 10 years old I recalled seeing my father accidentally collapse at my football game. As the months continued I began to notice that something was wrong, my father was unexplainably falling more often. Shortly after, I was informed by my mother that my father was diagnosed with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. My mother began to explain that my father was not going to survive and was expected to die within the next few years.
As the next three years followed, I faced moving into 4 different homes. I was exposed to the streets of East LA, small street gangs, drugs, sex and graffiti. Trying to find my way while escaping from what was going on at home. Seeing my father slowly dying I forced myself to find comfort in the streets and back allies with local kids from the neighborhood. On March 2nd, 1992 my father died taking his last breath while I held him in my arms crying as I told my father its ok Dad, you can go. Coping with the loss of my father and the emotions of feeling abandoned and alone I was soon to experience more devastating loss in my family. Growing up fatherless I was not prepared to face an additional two men in my life that stepped in as father figures. My life story gives specific insight in the mind of a young boy who was forced to gain knowledge from the environment I escaped towards.
Fortunately I was able to survive through all I had seen. I am now a father, I am married to my wife Diana and we live and raise our family in the city of Whittier. I have also found peace and joy as I rededicated my life to the Lord. Currently I own and manage my companies Rampbed Inc. and None Of Me Org. My strong desire of never giving up has led my company into great success within the skateboarding industry. Rampbed is well known globally and has become a vendor with partnering companies such as Toys R Us, Babies R Us & F.A.O Schwarz. I do my best to demonstrate the power behind staying focused and never giving up on your dreams regardless of life's unfortunate circumstances.
I now strive towards other life changing goals like running in the Long Beach Marathon, Los Angeles Marathon and mountain climbing. I am showing my sons, family and freinds that if I can do it, so can they.
