Gabriella's First Apartment
Organized by: Alicia Jessop
Everyone remembers their first apartment. Mismatched furniture. Hand-me-downs. Posters on the wall. It may not have been pretty, but it was home.
If anyone deserves the comfort of a beautiful home, it is 21-year-old UCLA anthropology student, Gabriella Kasley.
Four years ago, Gabriella was diagnosed with AIDS. That diagnosis requires her to take antivirals and endure monthly blood tests. Recently, Gabriella was diagnosed with cancer. To fight the cancer, Gabriella has undergone chemotherapy and continues to be treated at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
What would you do if you were 21-years-old, entering the twilight of your college experience and facing what was Gabriella was facing? What if you were facing these obstacles without the comfort of a welcoming, relaxing home to call your own?
Truth be told, Gabriella has experienced things that most of us never will. Yet, she has managed to do it with a smile on her face. Gabriella is getting ready to move into her first apartment. She doesn't have anything to fill it with though, other than her infectious smile and her dear dog, Burrito's company. Let's help this young woman build her first place of her own. And let's make that place of her own one filled with warmth and the comfort she certainly needs.
Money raised from this fundraiser will be used to fund purchases for Gabriella's new home. From furniture to dishes and pots and pans to cleaning supplies and decorations. Let's help Gabriella get what she needs for her very first home and to build happy memories in it!
