Help Gaby and Rosa attend UCLA Tech Camp!
Organized by: Gaby & Rosa Cortes
We are twin sisters, both 15 years old and Juniors at Garfield High School in East Los Angeles. We are interested in becoming Engineers and dream of attending UCLA. We will be the first in our family to attend a University and have a career. Besides attending high school, we participate in Varsity Swimming and Water Polo, we are also active members of Girls Today Women Tomorrow Leadership Mentoring Program and we help our parents take care of our brother and the house, we also help our dad at work. We were born in Puebla, Mexico and our parents brought us to the United States at age 2, hoping for more opportunities for our future.
We are so excited that we were accepted to UCLA's Tech Camp this summer and to have each received a $3,000 scholarship to cover tuition, but we need help raising $2,500 each ($5,000 total) for the room and board expenses. Attending Tech Camp will give us an early experience of what it's like to be an engineer and how it feels to live college life. We are excited to meet engineers and to have hands on experience programming robots. We hope that this experience will help us get into our dream school, UCLA, when we graduate high school in 2016. We need to raise $5,000 by July 20th to pay for room and board in order to stay on campus at UCLA, otherwise we will have to take a bus for 2 1/2 hours each way, every day from East LA. We hope that we can stay on campus and focus on our education during this exciting month of Tech Camp. Thank you for your support!
Can you help us achieve our goal?
