Hi friends, family and the greater Gannon Lacrosse community!
This 2016 season, we have decided to participate in the Yards for Yeardley Challenge. The premise of this challenge is to run 1 million yards in 30 days. We began this challenge on January 26th, and we are well on our way to reaching our 1 million yard goal by February 24th!
The objective of this challenge is to focus our time, energy and hard work into supporting the One Love Foundation. For those of you who do not know, the One Love Foundation was founded in 2010, following the tragic loss of University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love.
Yeardley Love was a hard-working, fun, enthusiastic woman, who's life was taken too soon due to relationship violence. To learn more about her story, visit www.joinonelove.org, or follow the links above.
As a team, we feel it is very important to raise awareness about relationship violence and spread One Love's message that "we can change the social climate that currently enables abuse". To do so, we would like to ask your help by donating to this fantastic cause.
By sponsoring our team for this challenge, the One Love Foundation is able to continue raising awareness across the United States. Did you know that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience relationship violence in their lifetime? Let's help change that!
We greatly appreciate your help, and encourage you to continue sharing Yeardley's story!
