India lives in its villages. Millions of people living in villages do not have access to good health care. So, Sankara's Wellness-on-Wheels (WOW!) program is critical to bringing healthcare to the where the people live.
Sankara Healthcare (Formerly Sankara Cancer) Foundation's mission: To bring health and wellness to everyone. We focus on all round family health, with a special emphasis on women’s health, including cancer education, screening and treatment programs to the needy amongst us.
Sankara Healthcare Foundation is engaged with many local non-profit community hospitals in India to improve the healthcare of the needy. The areas of work include cervical and breast cancer screening, general women's health, diabetes screening, prosthetics and mobility, critical care infrastructure development, physiotherapy, haemodialysis and emergency relief.
Sankara Healthcare is completely volunteer run, and their programs are implemented by carefully selected charity hospitals in India. SHF has very low overheads. For instance, in 2015, their expenses were around 2% of their total donations. All of these are verifiable in publicly filed 990 statements with the IRS.
Sankara Healthcare Foundation, Inc. is a US 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization (EIN: 46-0736579) and donations are tax-deductible.
