Club JAM Color Blast Party
May 24, 2016
BENEFITING: GARRETT COMMUNITY CENTER INC
ORGANIZER: GARRETT COMMUNITY CENTER INC
EVENT DATE: May 18, 2016
I never would have thought in a million years that I would find an organizatoin that is as giving, caring, and supports a great community like the JAM Center does.
I started at the JAM Center in September of 2015. In that short of a time, I quickly learned that this was an organization that I wanted to bloom with. The people in the Garrett community not only make a difference to all of us working at the JAM Center, but each of them make me love my job even more every day.
Even though I work at the Welcome Center, I help out with our teen programming in our Club JAM program called Girl's Club. We meet every Wednesday to have "girl talk", crafts and activities that encourage the girls who attend to be safe and inspired to be themselves. Knowing that these girls have a safe place to eat and learn while being with such great role models is nothing short of an amazing feeling.
With the support of the Art Van Charity Challenge, we have the opportunity to raise money for our teen programming! We hope to one day open up a youth center affiliated with the JAM Center, and with your help this dream could become a reality!

To be a teenager is such an important and fruitful time in a young person’s life. It’s an impressionable time when young people truly develop a sense of intimacy or isolation; the result of this affects the development of the strength, love.
There is no love without compassion. By choosing to show these teens love and investing in their lives, we have truly seen growth and positive effects in both our teenage participants and our positive mentors.
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." -Leo Buscaglia
What we do....
Free programming is offered four days a week to any interested teen in Middle School and High School. Through each of the Club JAM programs, teens are building relationships with positive adult role models, participating in fun activities, consuming fabulous food, and engaging in opportunities to learn and lead.
"I just love coming to the JAM because it is my family." ~Braelyn Reinig, Club JAM and Girls' Club participant
