Gary Thomas Huisman, born October 23, 1943, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2016, in Cottonwood, Arizona. He was originally from South Sioux City, Nebraska, and a longtime resident of Eugene, Oregon. Gary loved his family. Gary, 73, is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Huisman (Staci) of Phoenix, Arizona; Ryan Huisman of Springfield, Oregon; and their mother, Mary Jo Stephenson Huisman. He is also survived by two older brothers, Dennis Huisman (Kay) of Hinton, Iowa; and Gene Huisman (Louise) of Clute, Texas. Gary was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret Schumacher Huisman and Thomas Andrew Huisman; and his sisters, Vivian Hamar and Shirley Greene.
Gary proudly served in the Navy as a Seabee in Vietnam. He was a dedicated salesman at Graybar Electric and Oregon Leather for thirty-seven years. An avid woodworker, he also enjoyed building military models, reading military history, and gardening. He was a lifelong fan of Big Red Nebraska Corn Huskers football.
