Our Mission

The Gateway Men's Chorus affirms and promotes gay culture and acceptance through excellence in musical performance and education.

Our Vision

We believe we can achieve great things because:

  • Together we become more than each of us alone.
  • We open ears that would otherwise be closed to our message.
  • We create a community that loves unconditionally.
  • We proclaim to the world that a voice like ours can never be silenced.

Our Values

  • Diversity
  • Family / safe harbor
  • Fiscal responsibility
  • Artistic excellence / professional quality
  • Credibility, respect, and integrity
  • Positive image and attitude

The Chorus continues our tradition and strong commitment to outreach with performances that touch new audiences and to benefit causes which are important to the community. A core value of GMC is the exploration of innovative ideas and programming that appeal to a wide array of the public.

Our small ensembles represent the Chorus at many community events such as Pride Fest, Grovefest, and First Night. Additionally, GMC has performed to raise funds for charities such as One St. Louis, "Sing for the Cure," a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and AMC Cancer Research Center, Saint Louis Effort for AIDS, and C.A.R.E. Additionally, GMC will be the invited guest of St. Stanislaus Catholic church for a benefit concert for Project ARK’s annual Holiday Gold Toy Drive.

Additionally, GMC has been proud to team up with other community organizations over the years in combined performances. Organizations who have partnered with GMC include: CHARIS, Band Together, SAGE, and Growing American Youth.

We are a member of GALA Choruses, the leading association committed to serving the GLBT choral movement in the US and abroad. Founded in 1982, GALA Choruses represents over 150 choruses and 7,500 singers throughout North America, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia.
