EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is the United States' largest organization for parents, families, friends, and allies united with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ).
PFLAG helps to change attitudes and create an environment of understanding so that our LGBTQ family members and friends can live in a world that is safe and inclusive.
The need for resources that provide education and support is rising in response to public awareness, especially in the wake of the sad death of Leelah Alcorn (a transgender teen who took her own life and had no acceptance or support from her family). In her suicide note, she urged "Fix society. Please." The money that you donate will have a measureable impact immediately. Your donation will help to offer personal support, safe schools, and to advocate for legislation. 100% of your donation will go straight to PFLAG to support their life-saving programming across the state of MA.
As the parent of a queer child I am acutely aware of the need for an organization such as PFLAG. To know that my child could be a target of violence, discrimination, bullying, or harrassment is heartbreaking. To know that other children live in fear and constant turmoil is heartbreaking. It is unacceptable. I am a mother doing what she can to raise awareness and to challenge friends and family to support acceptance and respect for human diversity.
Thank you for your donation. Thank you for spreading the word!
