GB Southwest Auditorium
Organized by: David Pisani
Green Bay Southwest High School's auditorium is in major need of renovation. It has not been renovated since the high school opened its current location in 1972. The School District agrees and is pitching in by sanding and refinishing the concrete flooring, repainting, and replacing the carpet (over $30K investment). We want to do more, however, and make our auditorium the best in the area. We want these improvements to mirror the fantastic improvements that have taken place in the music department since our amazing group of music teachers (Mr. Rockstroh, Ms. Baye, Mrs. Uitenbroek, and Mr. Bergstrom) started leading our music program 5 years ago.
Our biggest endeavor is to replace the ugly plastic, uncomfortable, broken and missing seats with theatrical quality seating. We also would like to improve the sound system, enhance the lobby, and make worthwhile cosmetic changes. The entire project, including the part the District is funding, will cost just less than $200K. However, we have already done substantial fundraising and only have about $55K to go if all the pledges are realized.
Our ultimate goal is to have the newly renovated auditorium up and running before next year's production of Grease in late January. Thus, we would need to fundraising completed by December 1st at the latest, preferrably earlier.
Please consider helping us in two ways. First, make a donation to the project. It does not matter the size, any amount will help. Second, and just as important, is spread the word about this attempt at crowdfunding. We want all Southwest alumni and friends of Southwest to hear about our efforts and join in. Use whatever form of social media you prefer to get the word out. If many contribute a little, we will reach our goal and have an auditorium for which we can all be proud.
Note that if you would like to make a donation greater than $100, please reach out to someone on the committee below directly. Donations of $150-$350 get a seat permanently named after the donor (or whomever they choose to honor). Donations of $1,000-$2,500 get naming rights to an entire row of seats. And donations ranging from $25k-$75k get an entire section of seats or even the entire auditorium itself named after you, your family, or your business!
