BENEFITING: The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
Team GDMF is back for the 2014 Boston (and Providence) Marathon!
We extend our heartfelt thanks for your financial and spiritual support of our runners in 2013. The tragic events of last year's Boston Marathon will never be forgotten, and our thoughts and prayers continue for the families affected. However, the strength and beauty of this event endures.
Thanks to you, the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation raised over $22,000 last year. In May, we awarded 2 scholarships. One of them was to Hannah Green, daughter of active Navy Seal, Collin Green. Hannah is a Junior at USC while dad is currently deployed in Afghanistan. Hannah is one of 4 children. Her family worries about dad overseas, but is relieved to have the financial support of the GMDF.
With your support, we will continue to award scholarships like the ones mentioned above. We will keep Glen's spirit alive by growing his foundation and raising funds through the active pursuits that he loved. For more information about Glen and the Foundation, please see our website: www.glendohertyfoundation.org. Thank you!
Like many charities, we were hoping to field a bigger team at Boston. We are grateful to once again be a John Hancock partner with 3 bibs. Thanks to the generosity of others two more entries were added to the team for a total of 5 Boston marathoners.
To supplement our earnings at Boston, we got a bit creative and added a Team GDMF Providence. Thank you to our ½ marathoners, who will be running Providence 13.1 two weeks after Boston. They have stepped up to help us show John Hancock that we can fundraise with the best of them. Our goal is to collectively raise $50,000 this year in hopes to receive more Boston entries for 2015.
We thank you all for your contributions to Team GDMF Boston & Providence Marathons 2014. We greatly appreciate it!
