The Story

EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2013

DEADLINE TO GIVE: Apr 27, 2013

Habitat for Humanity believes in a world where everybody has a decent, affordable place to live. Poverty housing is not far from our eyes, no matter where in the country you live. Rutgers University Habitat for Humanity is teaming up with Busch Resident life, Student Life, and the creators of Geek Week in order to bring the first-ever Rutgers University Build-A-Thon.

Build-A-Thon is an interactive way to raise awareness of poverty housing around us. Students groups will build and live in their own homes from preset materials for 24 hours. Throughout the day and night, there will be entertainment and information sessions, and we encourage family and friends to visit the students' homes.

Goal: While we want to spread awareness, we also are trying to fundraise to our $100,000 goal to completely fund and build a home in Plainfield, New Jersey. This is one of the first home that will be completely sponsored by a collegiate chapter.
