BENEFITING: Team Muscle Makers for UCMD
Over Martin Luther King Jr Day weekend in January, I will be running the Star Wars Rebel Challenge in Disneyland with Team Muscle Makers. Team Muscle Makers is a charity that raises money for people living with different types of muscular dystrophy. I am passionate about running for Team Muscle Makers because my friend Parker has Ulrich Congenital muscular dystrophy and one of my students has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and I want to help them find a cure. This will be my eighth time running with Team Muscle Makers.
During Labor Day weekend of 2014, I ran the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge for Team Muscle Makers. This was a truly incredible experience that I am so greatful to have been a part of! Team Muscle Makers is a charity that was started by my good friend, Melissa Mayorgas to help people living with Ullrich Congenitial Muscular Dystrophy (UCMD) like her son, Parker. The money I raise will help provide treatment, durable medical equipment and support services for those affected by muscular dystrophy.
Not only was I able to fundrasie and run on this incredible team, but I also met Melissa's entire family: Her husband Dan, and her son's Jackson and Parker. They are hands down one of the kindest, most generous, friendly, fun, inspiring families I have ever met, and I am so grateful to have these people in my life. My Team Muscle Maker teammates are like family. I love them so much, and they are such positive, encouragin people. Running has given me so much, and I want to give back! Thank you to everyone who supports me in my fundraising and training endeavors!
