BENEFITING: Team Muscle Makers for UCMD
I'm excited to be running again with Team Muscle Makers for UCMD at the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend in January.
TMM was founded to raise funds and awareness for Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. Your tax-deductible donation directly helps the Muscle Disease Clinic at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.
I'm no stranger to physical limitations. After I was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, I had a life-saving, yet invasive surgery leaving me with diminished physical capabilities. I began walking for exercise...then running. I ran my first 5K in July 2014, my first 10K in January 2015, and my first half marathon in May 2015. In 2016, I partnered with Team Muscle Makers completing the Rebel Challenge (10K and Half Marathon over 2 consecutive days!), the Pixie Dust Challenge (another 19.3 miles over 2 days), and the Disneyland 5K and Half Marathon. In January, I will run the Rebel Challenge again with Team Muscle Makers - this time with my son joining me for the Half Marathon!
I started running to help heal my body and give myself a goal for recovery. Now I run for those who can't...for kids who have this rare, slowly progressive and life-limiting form of Muscular Dystrophy. Thank you for your generosity in partnering with me!
