Chill inspires youth to overcome challenges through boardsports.
Chill Chicago was established in 2001, five years after its start in Burlington Vermont. In September 2014, Chill Chicago was brought on as a full-time site implementing a fall skateboard program in 2015 and a summer 2016 stand up paddleboard program. Through the addition of our fall and summer programs, as well as a recent 25% increase in our snow program capacity we are able to provide multiple opportunities for Chicagoland’s youth.
Through snowboarding, skateboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, and surfing, we teach important life lessons like Respect, Patience, Persistence, Courage, Responsibility, and Pride.
We work with social service agencies, mental health agencies, foster care programs, juvenile justice programs, and schools in local communities to select youth participants between 10 and 18 years old. Everything is provided to the youth at no cost.
We focus on the resiliency of our participants to help them reach their full potential and see that there is a path out of their current circumstances. Their current situation doesn't have to define them or determine their path in life; Chill helps them to realize alternatives beyond the struggles they are dealing with.
