Mental Health America of the Heartland's Fundraiser:

General Fundraising

Unlike many other nonprofits, we don’t fill your mailbox with year-end requests for gifts—indeed our

last ”annual appeal” was in 2002. This year though, we need your help—the agency is trying to raise

$12,500 by the end of the year to offset the effects of the government’s sequester and shutdown, which

have impacted our programs.

MHAH servers over 25,000 people annually in Kansas City and beyond—through suicide prevention

programs in the schools, professional and public seminars on a variety of mental health and wellness

topics, and provides timely information and referrals cover the phone and in person through numerous

health fairs and media contacts.

MHAH also solves a huge problem in our community—housing for persons with mental illness. Our 4

properties and our voucher program have kept over 250 people off the street, and out of hospitals and

jails, and gotten them into services, jobs, and school.

These programs have been hit hard by government cuts and delays—these programs need your help.

Interesting facts about mental health that you may not have known:

-1 in 4 Americans (close to 600,000 Kansas Citians) are affected by mental illness

-30% of our city’s chronically homeless people struggle with mental illness

-Given support (like that of MHAH and its programs), over 80% of people with mental illness

recover and lead healthy, productive lives.

A gift in any amount helps—especially because gifts to these programs can be leveraged to draw

additional dollars… If you can help, please click the button below to go to our donation page.
