Help GEN make the leap from a first generation organization dependent on efforts of its volunteers to a second generation organization run in a structured, professional manner by both full-time staff and volunteers.
The world is currently faced with the largest youth population in human history. Even more precarious, 80 million of youth are unemployed and 152 million are trapped in low-paying, informal jobs on the margins of society. Not only does this cost countries billions of dollars in lost potential, but it also creates a “lost generation” that is vulnerable to exploitation, criminal activity, and vicious poverty.
However, Generation Enterprise (GEN) sees opportunity in this darkness. Comprised of an all-volunteer, young team of social entrepreneurson four continents, GEN believes that one of the greatest unharnessed drivers for positive change and growth are the youth that make up this “lost-generation” – they are untapped innovators, customers, and partners.
Through intensive business training and microfinance, GEN has created a replicable, sustainable system to integrate “unemployable” youth into local economies as entrepreneurs, employers, and community leaders. GEN empowers unemployed youth, unleashing waves of entrepreneurship, productivity, and social change across the urban developing world.
