BENEFITING: Generations Incorporated
Generations Incorporated strives to improve the literacy skills of young children who struggle to read and write by engaging well-trained and highly committed community retirees who have the time, talent, and passion to serve. Over the last 25 years, we have grown to become one of the largest and most effective literacy programs in the country. Lester Strong, CEO of the national Experience Corps program says, “Generations Incorporated is best in class, best in nation.” With the celebration of 25 years of reading excellence upon us, we're also preparing to scale our programs for greater literacy success while expanding into 8 new schools over the next 3 years. This year we're proud to announce that a generous 4 year Social Innovation Fund sub-grant provided by AARP Foundation, under its grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service, will support the scaling of Generations Incorporated’s AARP Foundation Experience Corps Program in the Boston Public Schools. The sub-grant is called Scaling Reading Success and while AARP Experience Corps is the grantee, seven cities have been selected as sub-grantees. This opportunity fosters public and private collaborations to evaluate and grow innovative community-based solutions that work. Gifts raised during our 25th Anniversary Celebration will be matched dollar-for-dollar through the Social Innovation Fund, making another 25 years of literacy excellence possible and greater for the brighter future. As we honor 25 years of outstanding and lasting change for childhood literacy, we ask you to join us in building the next 25 years together.
